Miles only started a week before me, but she saw how lost I was on my first day at work and made me feel welcomed and included.

It’s something she did with everyone, and her kindness and empathy shone so brightly, always.

She had the gift of bringing people together and it was because of her I became close to the other people in our team.

She was just all round one of the best human beings I ever met. Just being around her made me try to be a better person, kinder and more tolerant. She is one of those very rare people that can inspire you to be better, just by being herself.

I often read about how someone made the world a better place, and I have my doubts, because humans are flawed.

But I can say with absolute conviction that Miles made the world a better place, and brought so much happiness, comfort and inspiration to everyone who knew her.

I am so lucky to have met her, and so honoured to have been her friend for the brief time we had.

(Also, we were kindred spirits in our love of chillies and spicy food. No one else came close. Thank you for the good times we shared Miles, and for introducing me to so many good places to eat!)
